Alexandra Park Road

A chic and modern design and build project that resulted in a unique home that was designed with luxury living at its heart. 

A rear two storey extension was added to create an open plan dining area on the ground floor and a roof terrace for the master bedroom. The master bedroom was reconfigured to ensure that both the bed and the freestanding bath had views of the garden as well as accommodating a double steam shower, creating an exceptionally well appointed place to retreat for the owners. 

In the kitchen, the unit doors and island were updated and a striking herringbone floor was laid over the new underfloor heating.

Family Home Renovation

To comply with planning a new hip to gable roof with barn ends was built. The full width dormer was constructed using a timber frame and in lead composite timber panel infills. The original dated pebbledash exterior was replaced with a sleek silicone render. The exterior look was completed with the installation of new windows on the first floor and front elevation and slim frame sliding doors on the juliet balcony. 

Internally major structural works were undertaken in the living room to allow an awkwardly placed brick pillar to be removed, this involved extending an existing steel beam. During the works the client opted to modify the design to expose the vaulted section of the ceiling, which Charlie and the team could easily accommodate. On the first floor the bedrooms were reconfigured and the family bathroom was fully refurbished.

Contemporary double fronted Edwardian terrace

Once a dilapidated property that was split into two flats with a separate basement, this double fronted terrace house was in a neglected state when Charlie and the team were appointed to create a cohesive family home. 

Charlie and her team carried out a full renovation to bring the separate dwellings together and restore the properties flow as a family home. The basement, which has previously only housed the services for the property, was transformed into a self contained guest suite as well as providing space for a utility room, cloakroom and home gym. When replacing the roof, Charlie installed a fixed roof light which flooded the previously dark stairwell with natural light. The result is a luxurious family home. 



Minimalist Luxury Loft

Inspired by their love of music and 1960’s design, this couple had a very specific and design-led concept that they needed a professional to bring to life for them. Charlie oversaw the completion of a hip to gable loft conversion to create a striking master bedroom suite. 

Planning meant that it was not possible to add a dormer extension so oversized rooflights that could be opened were installed to make the most of the stunning views across the capital. The original ‘turret’ feature in the master bedroom was maintained and transformed into a sleek contemporary wetroom. 

The real pièce de résistance was the installation of a bespoke staircase inspired by the Sackler Galleries in London’s Royal Academy of Arts. Constructed from steel and glass, the bold design of the stairs acts as both practical access and a striking feature within the property. 

As part of the project the floors in the living room and kitchen were upgraded before a new kitchen was installed, complete with statement tiles, to add to the artistic styling of the property. 

Liverpool Road

From disrepair to a stunning blend of modern functionality and timeless charm, this historical Grade II listed property underwent a remarkable transformation.  

Although addressing the neglected state of the original dwelling and creating a livable home was the end goal, uncompromising restoration was at the heart of this project. The property was enhanced by expanding the rear of the property to accommodate a contemporary kitchen and dining area. The new space included a wood burning stove to create a cosy feel. The space is bathed in natural light from statement two meter circular roof lights. 

In addition, a substantial overhaul of the basement was carried out. This involved a comprehensive excavation to create a utility room, a cinematic retreat that doubles as a guest suite, and essential storage. This versatile space was designed with the homeowners needs in mind and combines the practicalities of modern living with aspirational living.

The entire renovation process was conducted with utmost care and respect for the property's heritage, ensuring that the upgrades seamlessly complemented its historical character. The result is a harmonious marriage of traditional elegance and modern amenities, breathing new life into this Grade II listed gem. 

Park Lodge

Now an ergonomic home designed for ease of living, this mansion flat has undergone an extensive overhaul and was completely refurbished by Charlie and her team. As mansion block flat this project had to be meticulously managed due to the surrounding properties, but with more than two decades of experience under her belt Charlie was able to navigate the inherent complexities of this project with ease. 

The property was entirely reconfigured and new plumbing and electrics were installed throughout before replacing the walls, ceilings and floors. At this point Charlie and her team got work finishing the property to an exceptional standard. Walnut flooring was sourced and installed throughout. The property is charaterised by bespoke carpentry throughout, including a new kitchen and walk in wardrobe. Three new bathrooms were installed as well as new plaster coving and fire doors throughout to finish contemporary classic property. 

St Johns Wood Mansion Flat

The Crest

The clients of this project had been impressed by the breadth of Charlie’s portfolio and approached her to manage the full architectural design and construction of the project. The brief was to overhaul the ground floor of a North London family home to create a free-flowing space which was versatile enough to accommodate family life as well as socialising with friends and family. 

The existing kitchen was demolished to make way for a rear extension that would house a larger kitchen as well as utility room. The extension was fitted with bifold doors leading onto the garden to create a space perfect for enjoying the warmer months as well as busy family life. 

The client wanted a kitchen that was separate from the living room, without the interior feeling disconnected. Charlie and her team met this requirement by installing the same flooring throughout the ground floor and keeping the original ceiling details to aid one space flowing into another. The floor throughout the ground floor was also levelled to create a smooth and safe surface. 

The finishing touches added to the property really elevate the end result, for instance the curved radiator installed under the bay window. 

Palmers Green Extension

Thornhill Road

This property was updated to keep pace with busy family life, resulting in a sophisticated home that was packed with practical design features.

In order to maximise the usable space in the property the plant room was relocated and an extension was added to the rear of the property. The extension was finished with the addition of a green roof, a design choice to soften the views from the property and connection to nature in a busy city. 

An outdoor space was also enclosed to provide a safe and dedicated play space for the children, as well as a dedicated area for toy storage, 

The property was completely rewired and fitted with smart integration, meaning that everything from lights, heating, underfloor heating and even air-conditioning can now be controlled at the touch of a button for maximum convenience. By using an app on their smartphone the client can now ensure that the house is comfortable, whatever the weather. 


Islington Town House

Period Townhouse

This project was a complete refurbishment of this Grade II listed home to create a property that is packed full of originality as well as contemporary comfort. 

Repairs to the roof, repointing of the front and rear brickwork and a complete mechanical and electrical upgrade laid the foundations for creating a striking period property. The updated services allowed underfloor heating to be fitted in the basement, ground and first floors, leaving wall space free for furniture and storage. The floors were finished in light oak floorboards. 

A beam was fitted between the kitchen and dining rooms allowing these spaces to work together cohesively, whilst the access into the newly landscaped garden was widened to help the inside and outside spaces flow together. In the master bedroom an understated en-suite was created and the family shower room was redesigned. In order to do justice to the history of the property all the original features were either overhauled or refurbished with Charlie helping to source items using her knowledge to quality suppliers.


Cascade Avenue - Frameless glass extension

This stunning Arts and Crafts Cottage had bountiful charm and character but was in need of modernisation. A dated rear extension was demolished and the client wanted to add a larger extension, however planning stipulated that the original rear window must be retained. In order to achieve this Charlie and her team added a frameless glass extension that not only increased the size of the property, but left the original windows intact. 

With the increased footprint the ground floor was remodeled to include a WC and through access from the hall to the kitchen. The house was completely rewired and replumbed, bringing it up to standard before the two bathrooms were refurbished. 

Finally the property was decorated throughout including sanding and refinishing the original floorboards on the first floor and carefully restoring the original features. The painstaking attention to detail used on the project saw it shortlisted for the LABC Building Excellence Awards. 


Cascade Avenue

Golders Green complete refurbishment, extension and loft

This stunning five bedroom family home was created by stripping two flats back to brick and stud to create one modern and stylish property. Getting to exactly what her clients want from a property, understanding their lifestyle and how best to meet these needs is at the heart of every project undertaken by Charlie. This meticulous attention to detail was used in abundance on this project. 

Internally, the loft was extended, adding a third story that houses a master suite. The space includes a loft storage, ensuite, juliet balcony and wet underfloor heating, resulting in a space that perfectly blends practicality and comfort - perfect for unwinding. 

This unwavering attention to detail continued on the outside of the property where original features have been juxtaposed with striking modern design. The client opted to add beautiful stained glass paneling to the front door and circular porch windows accentuate the period nature of the property and original stained glass windows on the staircase. A new staircase was created, adding wow factor to the entrance hall.  Dated pebble dashing was replaced with an insulated silicone render, improving the energy efficiency of the property. The original porch has been extended, creating an external alcove, complete with low level benches for sheltering from the elements. 

The rear of the property features a contemporary timber clad extension. The additional space houses a generous bespoke kitchen and living space with views over the newly landscaped garden. The ergonomic aluminium frame features sliding doors that allow for the corner of the space to be fully opened, creating a cantilevered roof.


Golders Green Complete Refurbishment, Extension and Loft

Historic Islington

The brief given to Charlie for this project was a complete upgrade and refurbishment of a Grade II listed Georgian terrace house in Islington. The client knew the property had potential but realising this would require overhauling the property from rooftop to below-ground drainage. 

As you would expect a sympathetic and skilled eye was required to reinvigorate this historic beauty as all the original features were to be retained and restored, including the windows. 

The basement level kitchen-dining room was redesigned to allow direct garden access to the new Yorkstone city garden adding to the usability of the space. The original family furniture married well with the modern classic kitchen styling. For added ‘wow factor’ colourful Moroccan plaster was used on the bathroom walls to give a clean artisan finish which perfectly complemented the marble floors. 

What the client thought: “We were overseas during the renovation and would have never tackled our project without Charlie. She’s 100% hands on and that makes the difference. We are thrilled at the results.”
